  • Hello, instead of getting you through various ways of doing it by code I would suggest for the ease of it to experiment with some plugins first in case you are able to achieve what you want effortlessly.

If you are using Yoast SEO for example it can remove the /category/ by itself. There is an option in Advanced -> Permalinks, and the first option you see is Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL. you can set that to Remove.

Another plugin that seems to be updated with 4.8.1 is https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-no-base-permalink/ after a little search on the directory here.

Make sure to read carefully the FAQs or other resources that the plugins might give before changing your permalink structures to be safe or take a full backup if possible.

Thank you! It looks like the plugin will work. Although, now I am totally confused because I can’t actually add a post directly to a page (?). This seems super basic but I again, I’m confused…

What are you confused with so maybe I can help out. You lost me there what do you mean adding a post to a page?
