    This plugin was specifically meant for default wordpress posts and pages. There can be a wide range of custom post types so it may not be possible to consider all. Mostly this plugin shows the thumb icons with the_content filter of posts/pages. So if your custom post type uses the_content to render the content, then it should also show the thumb icons. Please let me know which plugin you are using for this or you have your own custom post type.
