Custom post types and custom category

Hello @jeffspring,
to get posts published as custom post types (=CPT), it’s enough to select the appropriate CPT in “Getting posts” > “Post type”. The widget will show only that CPT in the frontend.

If you want to show only CPT published under “videos” (for example), you have to enter the correct values in the section “Getting posts” > “Custom taxonomy query”.

In our example, the fields must be filled this way:

• Taxonomy A1: video (use the taxonomy slug, for example; make sure you are using the correct slug);
• Field: Slug (if you used a slug; if in the previous field you used a name, choose here Name);
• Terms: insert here the terms you want to use. For “terms” WordPress means this: let’s imagine that we have a standard category named “News of the blog”. The taxonomy would be category, while the term would be news-of-the-blog;
• Operator: choose IN. This operator means: get CPT that are published in the specified term.

This should be enough, for the moment. Try and let me know.

After you have understood how to use this fields, you can put in relation more aspects, for example: get books (a CPT) that are published in the Novel section but not having the term “philosophy”. In this case you will use also the columns B1 (or even the others, if necessary).
