You can create a child-theme to your current theme by using the “Child Theme Configurator” plugin.

@missveronicatv maybe I am too new to WordPress to understand, but why do I need to create a child theme? I simply want to change the layout of the profile.php page and the fields that are displayed, but cannot figure out how to do so, even with the instructions from https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1454-change-um-profile-layout
I have tried the plugin for custom fields, and those fields showed up some, but not always, and not anywhere in a way that was pleasing to the eye. They never showed up on the edit profile page.
sorry for my lack of understanding.
@ericbeckham
If you want to make your own Profile template in your child-theme folder this is the guide to read:
https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/120-adding-your-custom-profile-templates
@missveronicatv thanks for the links. I’ve been trying them but neither one seems to work, so i am obviously doing something wrong.
Using the default template, I add fields but they never show up on the profile page. When I click edit on the profile, they show up, with data, except the email address field.
Thanks for the help, I will keep messing with it until I figure out what I am doing wrong.
Finally got somethign worked out for now. Thanks.
