Hi @ericahrens
Sorry to hear you are having this problem.
I downloaded my website checked the plugins feature available then upgraded back to 5.5 but I don’t see any difference.
All functions still working as expected:

I’m testing the plugin on a vanilla WordPress, so it can indicate a plugin or theme conflict.
Could you run a full plugin and theme conflict test?
Make sure to have a staging website or a full backup.
Disable all plugins keeping only the Custom Sidebars enabled, check if the issue is gone, if so, enable one by one until the problem returns.
If the problem persists, switch to a default WordPress theme like the twenty twenty.
Let us know the result you got.
Best Regards
Patrick Freitas
Hello @ericahrens
I’m closing this topic due to recent inactivity.
Feel free to post back any updates and we can reopen it and carry on. 🙂
Take care,

“Custom Sidebars” and “The Event Calendar” seems not to work together under 5.5.1
Deactivating “Custom Sidebars” is the only way to set filters in the Calendar Event List for any widget.
All the preset widgets were vanished also in my case.
Hello @markjpeters,
I am sorry to hear that things did not work correctly in your case. could you help me with what PHP Version you are using currently?
Also when you say:
Deactivating “Custom Sidebars” is the only way to set filters in the Calendar Event List for any widget.
Could you please help me with a screenshot to understand how are the filters being set as initially both the plugins worked for me like a charm. When I checked to see the filters in the event calendar widget, I could not see any way to assign filter in the event calendar widget. You can also add in screenshots for the same for better understanding.
Thank you,
Prathamesh Palve
Where do you ask me to send the screenshots? I can not post themhere.
Hello @markjpeters,
You can upload the screenshots to your dropbox or google drive and link them to us here. You can also use a tool like monosnap which would give you free image storage too: https://monosnap.com/
Thank you,
Prathamesh Palve
I will not publish any images in a public forum nor drop them to a sharex for anyone’s access.
I tried “simple page sidebars”. It works, when I deactivate “Custom sidebars”, it does not when “Custom Sidebars” is activated. Dropdown menu will just not expand.
Sorry.
Hi @markjpeters,
I do understand if you don’t want to share a screenshot. As mentioned in the previous reply, since we aren’t able to replicate the issue initially its tough to say what’s causing the conflict without further information.
Since this thread was initially created by a different user, if you are still looking for us to troubleshoot regarding the issue notice with Custom Sidebars and Events plugin then would really appreciate if you could open a new topic regarding this issues with steps to replicate so that we could investigate this further and help get you sorted asap.
