Custom Taxonomy ACF Field

Hello all. I need some help with the plugin.

I have a custom taxonomy field called “Stores”. Your plugin works great and the field (including some standard fields like “description”, “slug”, “permalink”) exports perfectly to the Algolia index.

Within the custom taxonomy field, I have created a few fields using the ACF wordpress plugin. One of the fields is an image field called “store_logo_url”.

How can I export the ACF field “store_logo_url” to the custom taxonomy field “Stores” in Algolia?

All the examples I found are related to custom post types.

Hi there,

Is this for when you’re indexing a given post, you want to fetch the associated terms and the term meta to include the store_logo_url, so you could perhaps use it with the template output?

Or is this dedicated for when indexing terms themselves as standalone objects in the index?

I know we have some term-related filters over at https://github.com/WebDevStudios/wp-search-with-algolia/wiki/Filter-Hooks but I’m not quite sure they’re what you’re needing just yet.

It’s almost exactly the first scenario.

But I’m not indexing posts, just the taxonomy “stores” and want to fetch the associated term meta “store_logo_url” as well so I can output the image in the autocomplete template.

Understood on you’re wanting to use the information on output, i’m trying to determine still the rest. Are the objects representative of the WP_Post objects that WordPress creates, or are they WP_Term with terms.

I’m also not quite sure if stores is from the register_taxonomy slug, but I’m assuming yes because it does make sense as a taxonomy of terms like “Target”, “Walmart”, etc, among whatever stores they are.

Looking at our open issues, I did remember https://github.com/WebDevStudios/wp-search-with-algolia/issues/243 which is about term/user meta syncing, which tells me we only index the standard get_term() information right now.

Let me try something, I have a potential idea that may help here. I’ll try to circle back as soon as possible.

Doesn’t look like my idea is going to be feasible.

I was hoping that I could extend the class found at https://github.com/WebDevStudios/wp-search-with-algolia/blob/main/includes/watchers/class-algolia-term-changes-watcher.php externally from the plugin, and add some extra methods to term meta updates, but not the case.

No idea if you want to temporarily fork or at least modify the plugin on your own, and I know we have some bugs that need to be fixed with a 2.3.1 release.

I’m curious if the changes made in https://github.com/WebDevStudios/wp-search-with-algolia/pull/272/files would help solve this. Not sure if you’re willing to hotfix modify temporarily to test things out here, but would love a real-life usecase confirmation.

Circling back to this, the term/meta watching changes mentioned in https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/custom-taxonomy-acf-field/#post-16266805 have been merged in to the 2.5.0 release branch and will be part of the next release.
