How can you edit your comments file so that your comments list can be custom formatted with your desired headings. For example, having the author name go under h2 while the comments go under h3? Or even editing the comments-list part to it?

You would use a callback function. Quick Google search results.
There are a few tutorials on how to do it. I actually wrote one as well. 🙂
