Customization quesitons

I have a couple of questions regarding further customizations.  If you could tell me how to achieve these things – 

 I would like to remove the filter button, have the ability to do automatic/ajax filtering  and also keep the filter options on the left hand side the entire time, so it can keep filtering if I want to choose multiple options.  right now when it shows the results it removes the filtering options.  How do I not remove the filter options on the results?
is there a way to put the checkboxes in the filter drop downs in 2 equidistant columns, side by side?
I need a third filter option.  This one is a bilingual yes/no option.  Right now Events are categories, Products are Tags…how do I do a third option if I am already using tags and categories?  can I make a subset of tags?
I need to control the order of the Events and Products in the filter.  is that possible or is the only choice alphabetical, i see ID and numeric in Sort Terms option but i dont see how to set numeric to control it…?
