Customization will absolutely not work

    I have been at this all day, literally. I have multiple sites that I have built and manage, all with the same web host. I am not new to this, just to clarify.

    I have a new website to build, and earlier today I installed WordPress. Installed my theme and plugins, and then noticed that any changes I made to the theme would not publish. So, after the usual disable plugins routine… still nothing. Switched to the generic “Twent-Sixteen” theme. Still couldn’t save changes.

    So I reinstalled WordPress… no plugins installed, no theme. Used the 2016 theme again… still can’t save changes.

    I am now on my 5th install of WordPress and still end up with the same results. Using the customize option within the theme, add a logo or make any change at all… won’t save. I can click “Save & Publish” and it gives me the little loading circle for a few seconds, and then goes tight back to “Save & Publish”. Never switches to “Saved”.

    I have already increased my post_max_size, timeout settings, and a few other things I can’t remember. Nothing helped.

    I have been using WordPress for years and I have never come across this. It’s extremely frustrating and if anyone can help me out that would be great. Remember, I have absolutely 0 plugins installed, and just for basics trying to use the 2016 theme that came with it. No other themes installed. Brand spanking new installation.

    Using phpmyadmin, select all tables in the database and use the “check tables” option to make sure the DB is not corrupted in some way.

    Just did that, no change. I’ve also created a whole separate database 3 times thinking that may have been it.

    Hi enjoimark,

    Your browser may have cached pages and scripts of wordpress. You can remove browser cache and try again.

    Hard to think of something you haven’t tried. Did you check that your user role is “administrator”. Next, when you setup a database in cpanel, you create a user, ensure this user has full permissions, and is the same user given in wp-config.php.

    Yep, did all that.

    I’m completely stumped. I just have to assume it’s something that the hosting provider is doing… but I manage 8 other accounts with that host and they all run WordPress fine. Of course when I mention it they just blame WordPress.

    I gave up anyways; luckily this is a really basic site for a local business so they’re not using a cart system or anything. Just built it line by line. Ah, the good old days.
