    Hi there,

Superb plugin by the way! Was able to replace two plugins with yours alone – thanks!

I have one little problem though. I use the ‘Members’ plugin to create a custom role with the same capabilities as ‘Editor’ with a few extra options.

Since customising the side menus in your plugin, the ‘Customize’ option under ‘Appearance’ doesn’t appear.

I know I have the capability as I can access the customizer by going to themes and clicking on Customize there.

    Am I missing someting?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    markjohnl,

    Thank you for your feedback.
I try with this plugin. Members plugin

I also tried to create custom role and I have added some capabilities.
And, custom role was correctly display to menu the Customize.
    Custom role screen

I think that cause is capability is not enough.
If you don’t mind, could you try to add the below capabilities?

    • delete_themes
    • edit_theme_options (I think in particular that it is this)
    • edit_themes
    • install_themes
    • switch_themes
    • update_themes

    Capabilities settings screen

    Thanks,

    Hi gqevu6bsiz,

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated!

I tried adding the capabilities (some I had already added), but it didn’t make a difference. I did some more experimenting and I think I know how to recreate the problem.

Under appearance, if you remove everything except ‘Menu’ and ‘Customize’ you might see the problem. I only have this issue, when I remove all but these two options.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi gqevu6bsiz,

Just to rule this out as being a plugin conflict, here’s what I’ve done

    – Launched a new WordPress install
    – Installed Members and WP Admin UI Customize plugins
    – Created a new role and gave it all of the permissions
    – Created a test user and set it to the new role
    – Set the WP Admin UI Customize plugin to only apply changes to the new role
    – Under Side menu removed everything except ‘Menus’ and ‘Customize’.

When I logged in as the test user, the Customize option isn’t there. Hope this helps? Happy to email you the login details to my test site if you would like to take a look.

    Many thanks,

    Mark

    Hi markjohnl,

I was maybe able to resolve it problem.
If you don’t mind, please try it below Beta Version.
    WP Admin UI Customize 1.5.2.3

And please re-settings the Customize menu of Appearance.

    1. Uninstall the WP Admin UI Customize the latest version.
    2. Activate and install the beta version of WP Admin UI Customize
    3. Remove the Customize menu that you had already location.
    4. Setting to Customize menu from Menu items that can be added.

When you re-settings, please check the menu slug whether customize.php.
    http://gqevu6bsiz.chicappa.jp/?attachment_id=1623
If menu slug have referer, you will have same problem.
But if menu slug not have refere, I think you will correctly show to menu.

I hope that your problem is resolved.

    Thanks,

    Hi gqevu6bsiz,

I followed your steps to remove the plugin and uploaded the beta. Removed the customize menu item, saved, then dragged the customize across again. The result is the same I’m afraid.

I’m not sure why I get a different slug. Mine says

    customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fadmin.php%3Fpage%3Dwp_admin_ui_customize_sidemenu%26wauc_msg%3Dupdate

I don’t know if this is going to help, but I will try deleting the plugin again and see if there is anything left in the database.

If you have any ideas as to why I get this, I’d really appreciate it!

    Thanks again,

    Mark

    Hi gqevu6bsiz,

Think I have fixed it. If I click on the ‘Reset Settings’ button, I get the default menu back.

I can then start stripping down the menu. If I leave Customizer alone, it works. If I ever delete it, dragging the menu from the right brings the long slug across.

Are you planning to publish the beta? If so, I’ll wait for it to come out before updating my live site.

    Thanks,

    Hi gqevu6bsiz,

Last post tonight I promise πŸ™‚

Just been doing some testing and it looks like you have replaced the default slug for customize.php on the left side and so it works. If the slug was also changed on the right side, then I think that would be it fixed (for me anyway πŸ™‚

Thanks again for all your help!
