Customize wordpress translation

I’m not exactly sure what you mean. Are you looking to translate a plugin, theme or WordPress itself? If you have a plugin or theme .mo or .po file, putting them in the wp-content/languages folder will preserve them even after updating. More information on language files can be found here.
