• Hello:

I’ve already made requests for help regarding Customizer who doesn’t work for me. My website is self-hosted (isn’t at wp.com). I tried get advices, uninstalled plugins switched to basic theme twelve…, but couldn’t get Customizer work. Could someone from community explain or help me why I am not able even to see new theme (preview) on Customizer and if anyone had a similar problem?

Just to mention: I CAN see preview of a new theme ONLY if it’s NOT downloaded (at my dashboard). Once I download it and new theme is added at my dashboard, customizer is empty and I cannot make any changes (like background, header, widgets etc) – if there is no customization options as a part of theme itself in dashboard. This option is often not exist or there’s requirement to upgrade (pay) for getting more customization options.

When I started building a website/blog in February 2015, I was able to use Customizer, get a preview and do customization away from dashboard. Once I’ve installed theme (stargazer) I am not able to use Customizer and eventually change theme to another. If I try to do that, it gives me weird look of every new theme.

My feeling is that my present site and it’s database at my hosting company messing with every attempt to install new theme. But it shouldn’t mess with Customizer who is part of WordPress, not my site DB.

Please any ideas and help? Thx.

  • I am also experiencing issues with Customizer, with two different website/clients. At first I thought it was theme related but it did it again with a totally new hosting/theme. So I’m thinking it is do with WordPress latest version? How can we fix this? What happens for me is that I click on Customize, then I see all the list of options to use but it quickly refreshes to the basic option all on its own. It happens to two different theme/hosting installation. Very strange. Any fix for this?

@jengraph – it’s VERY unlikely that your site is identical to anyone else’s even if the problems you are having are similar or the same. Please start your own thread –

    http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post

@strgzr – start by deactivating all of your plugins and switching to Twenty Fifteen theme.

And then post a link to your site.

OK Sorry. I’ve already switch themes, the Twenty Fifteen theme does not have a full Customize options like other themes do, so hard to test and compare in that theme. I think it is the latest wordpress version, I’m working with my hosting to try a previous version to see if that is the culprit.

There are millions of people using this version without any problems. Using an outdated version is a security risk so that is not a good “solution” at all.

If your site has an issue with the current version, it’s much better to get the problem solved. So please open a new thread so someone can help you do so.

I went to update the WP core to the latest. I’ll open another thread.
