Hello, I’m using LocoTranslate since today and now my Customizer isn’t able to save changes anymore.
After disabling Loco Translate it is working again.

    What is your Customizer?

I need to reproduce this issue. Can you please post enough information for me to do so?

    Thread Starter Oliver

    (@oliverseimo)

The WordPress Customizer Tool which is integrated in every WP-Installation.

I researched my problem and it says that some plugins or themes may cause this problem.
I installet the plugin wp healt check to manually enable all plugins and after enabling loco translate the customizer didn’t work anymore.

Unfortunately I have no further information but the customizer works again after disabling loco translate.

So this is the theme customizer at /wp-admin/customize.php ?

What do I need to do to see it not working?

    Thread Starter Oliver

    (@oliverseimo)

    Yes.
Safing changes of any kind don’t work on my site.

But I can safe changes when disabling Loco translate and then activivate it again.
I dont’t use the customizer very often therefore it is no big problem.

It’s a big problem for me, because my plugin is installed on half a million websites. If there’s a conflict with a core WordPress function, I need to fix it.

I can’t reproduce the problem myself, so I’d appreciate some help in solving this for everyone’s sake.

    1. What theme are you customizing? Can you post a link to it?

    2. Do you get any errors in your log files, or any messages in your browser console?

    3. Do you have any additional security software installed?

    4. The Customizer uses Ajax to save settings. It would be useful to see the Ajax response from the save operation. You’ll find it in your network inspector.

Ok, I can send you the system-information of the site I’m working at.
Is there any way to not post them here in public?

There is no private chat on here. Just remove anything sensitive from what you post.

This appears in the Network-Inspector after trying to save:

    Status: 500
    Type: xhr
    Initiator: load-scripts.php

I do also have an internal error when I try to change a woocommerce language file within Loco Translate.

Memory Issues LESS compiling functionality usualy demands 40-80MBs of RAM. This might get even bigger, especially if you have installed several memory consuming plugins OR you have a PHP version earlier than 5.3 OR your website has a lot of traffic!
Your installation has PHP ver. 7.2.1 and 69MB RAM ( php.ini value ) available. Memory is below the MAX threshold. You probably have to raise this limit*, especially if you plan to use several memory consuming plugins ( such as WooCommerce ). Insufficient memory resources can cause a fatal error on the frontend during the custom stylesheet compiling.
    * If you want to raise your memory limit, its always best to ask your hosting provider to do it for you. If you have the technical skills to do it yourself, make sure that the memory limit value set is actualy available to your hosting package. Raising memory from 128MB to 256MB is safe for an average website. Plethora Themes always suggests the latter.

Thank you for this. I think you definitely have an Ajax issue. Let’s get to the bottom of it.

This appears in the Network-Inspector after trying to save:
    Name: admin-ajax.php
    Status: 500

Can you post this response in full please? I need more than the status. Explained here.

    WP_DEBUG Disabled

Please enable this. You’ll miss important errors otherwise.

I do also have an internal error when I try to change a woocommerce language file within Loco Translate.

This is congruous with the Ajax problem and not uncommon with WooCommerce. Usually due to security software blocking Loco Translate.

Do you have the same problem saving files in other plugins? Are you running any server add-ons like mod_sec?

This is empty because you have debug disabled, I think.

    Thread Starter Oliver

    (@oliverseimo)

I do not have any problems when i try to translate another plugin.

When I enable debug mode I get loads of warnings and my site isn’t even loading. It seems to be a theme-related problem but I have absolutely no idea what these warnings mean:

Ignore the theme warnings for now. The critical line is the last one. You’ve not assigned enough memory to run your site.

WooCommerce translation files are quite large, so this might explain why you only get an error translating WooCommerce.

As for why disabling my plugins fixed you Customizer – Most likely this just drops your memory usage enough for it to operate. The plugin is not hungry, but every byte counts.

I’m guessing if you keep Loco Translated enabled but disable a bunch of your other plugins, your Customizer will work. Can you try that so I know for sure it’s a memory issue and not an actual conflict?

Also, once you done that. Try upping your memory so you can have all your plugins enabled at once.

    Thread Starter Oliver

    (@oliverseimo)

    You are right.
Sorry for accusing your plugin to be the problem.

But shouldn’t PHP memory limit 256M not be enough for operating 20 plugins at once?

    Thread Starter Oliver

    (@oliverseimo)

256M is the local value and the master value is 69M, I got it.

Thank you for your assistance and have a nice day!
