• Hello! I’m starting a new site and trying out the Sela theme. In theory, I like how the theme uses the Grid Page template as a parent page, but I’m not crazy about how the template pulls a lengthy summary of the child page through.

Is there any way to customize the CSS so that there’s only a one sentence summary of the child page? I would love to be able to customize the child page summaries even further, but I think that’s getting into code that’s way over my head!

Any tips appreciated. Here’s a link to the page I’m playing around with: http://mammalroom.com/wp/publications/

  • Hi, I am having the same issue. Did you come across a solution?

Use the <more> button to shorten the description.

Open up the first child page that you wish to edit. In the Toolbar, hover your mouse over the second icon from the top right. It reads, “Insert Read More Tag” – click here.

Now you have added a “Read More” tag to the very bottom of the text. Scroll down (if necessary) to the very bottom of the text you have entered for the child page.

You should see the tag you entered. It looks like a bar of dashes and says MORE all in caps in the middle. Now drag this tag to the place where you want the text to cut off on the parent page. When you start dragging that tag around, you will notice that a cursor follows in the text. Use the cursor to determine the correct placement of the tag.

Drag and drop the tag where you want to break the text. Update the page. Open the parent page to preview the changes. Now you will notice that the text underneath the featured image for the child page breaks exactly where you wanted it!

    Hope this helps.
