Customizing the WooCommerce flow

Hi all,

I am currently building an eCommerce store that sells raffle tickets and I need your help!

What I need to do is take the payment from the customer as normal, then they will proceed to another page where they will be required to fill out a form with some additional fields.

Once they complete this form and submit it, they will be taken to a final thank you page, their order will get processed and the confirmation email will be sent.

I am happy creating a custom page with the form on, for them to get redirected to once the payment has been processed (Hopefully this is the right way to do it). I am going to use this tut: https://nicola.blog/2015/01/21/customize-the-thank-you-page-in-woocommerce/

What I am struggling with is how the form updates their order, and the form information submitted gets displayed on the final thankyou page and the confirmation email.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi James,

You need to first decide on how to save the additional info. I would assume either post meta to the order custom post type or an order note.

The method for saving order meta is: https://docs.woocommerce.com/wc-apidocs/function-wc_add_order_item_meta.html
For using order notes you can take a look at: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48667381/add-a-custom-order-note-programmatically-in-woocommerce-admin-order-edit-pages

Then take a look at how the form saves the data and retrieve the values in your custom final page template and email.

Not sure this is closed or not, but will post anyway.

I have not had the chance yet to figure this out (My task this weekend), but I have collated three links that I will be using to get try and this done!

I will be creating a game on my thank you page where the customer plays and it sets coordinates to form fields.

I will need to be able to search through all these coordinates in the back end to determine a winner (Its a competition), so maybe using order notes is not the best solution but I will try and create custom order meta as per your response above.

If this thread is open please keep it open and I will post more of the solution if and when I find it this weekend!
