Hi Souldisco,
Thanks for posting – I’m not sure I 100% follow your issue but I’ll be happy to help however possible. It sounds like with javascript submission enabled or disabled, Cyrillic is working with one setting and not working with the other setting.
Could you clarify for me which setting Cyrillic works with and which setting it does not work with? This may be a case where it would be necessary for a certain setting to be in place in order for the Cyrillic to work and with a bit more info I would be happy to assist.

It’s not working when javascript submission enabled
Thanks for clarifying for me Souldisco. If the Cyrillic works with JavaScript submission disabled, for the time being I’d recommend moving forward with disabling the JavaScript submission.
Generally speaking, disabling JavaScript submission is often a good way to avoid conflicts and issues with other script in place on a WP site. There aren’t always conflicts of course but unfortunately I’m not able to troubleshoot them specifically when they occur (since I’m MailChimp support chimp rather than a developer of the plugin), so the best course of action if you are seeing some issues would be to disable that feature for the moment.
I’ll be happy to pass along a note to the plugin developers to take a look at this, if you could provide me a bit more info about your site (i.e. your URL, other plugins, language/Cyrillic plugins in use).
Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to assist!
