Hi, you can use any character basically, including Czech, if you name your files using a language pack keyboard, as opposed to utf-8 encoded characters. PHP itself has problems with utf-8 special characters.
So if you’re running Windows, use the Czech language-pack keyboard for Windows, or whatever is comparable on a Mac or whatever.
I’ve successfully named and renamed and moved and uploaded and copied and deleted and downloaded files with all characters in Russian, Czech, French, Croatian, Japanese, and about a dozen other languages, using File Away and a Windows language-pack keyboard.
But I´m using czech language-pack keyboard in Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I have to set it somewhere? I tried Russian keyboard and file named фисвуап.txt didn´t even appear in file away.
I have to upload all files through fileup???
No you dont have to upload all files through fileup. It’s hard to say what the trouble would be without access to your server and wp admin. There’s an option on the setting page, under the options tab, for Alternate Pathinfo. Try enabling that.
I find out that uploaded file through fileup is renamed ex. from ěščřžýáíé.txt to ěščřžýáĂĂ©.txt. And that crazy-named file looks in file away like ěščřžýáíé.txt but cannot be accessed because of bad file name (404). And another problem, which I find out, is when I upload file through fileup, path to uploaded file is c:\inetpubwwwrootwordpress\files\intranet\ instead of c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordpress\files\intranet\. Thanks for you patience with me and my english. 🙂 Now I can´t make website available for you.
You’re on a Windows server? File Away does not support Windows servers.
The vast majority of folks are on Apache servers. I do not have access to an IIS server. Therefore, File Away does not support IIS. Sorry.
Feel very free to take my code and modify it to suit your needs. It’s provided freely and it’s open source.
It´s a pity. Maybe I´ll try to modify it and learn php on your plugin. Your plugin is what I need. If I will be succesful (low chance), I will send it to you. For IIS you don´t need Windows Server. Can be installed example on Windows 7 Pro. like I have now.
Thank you for patience and time. 🙂
