Hey rfdprint,
Sorry for the troubles! Did you add the SMTP info to DAS settings page? It needs to also be in this area for it to work.
Thanks

Hello slickremix,
Thank you for responding so quickily.
Since my hosting service does not open that port, imputing my SMTP settings on that page doesn’t work.
I love this plugin, however if my customers don’t get the emails, it’s not going to help my business. I was wondering why most other plugins that use the standard WordPress email works well with Postman and this plugin does not.
Postman provide an api solution for users that can’t use the standard SMTP settings. That has worked well for me. There must be a reason why this plugin does not follow the same channel as the other plugins that use standard WordPress email, I was wondering what the difference was and if there is a workaround or fix for it?
rfdprint ,
When I went to do a test on this and activate the Postman and Gmail extension for it I get this notice.
Please deactivate and delete the Postman Gmail API Extension. Installation of Postman v1.6 has deprecated this plugin. Your email service will not be interrupted in any way by this change. Please see The Official Plugin Page for more information.
Unfortunately based on that notice we probably won’t be trying to figure out why that is not working with DAS.
I’m really surprised your host will not let you use any ports to gain access to gmail. I would definitely complain or move to a new service if that is at all possible.

Hi. I’m the author of Postman.
When I went to do a test on this and activate the […] Gmail extension for it I get this notice.
This Postman Gmail API Extension plugin is deprecated as of May 3rd, 2015. Please don’t install it. As the notice says, it is not interrupting your email in anyway.
Unfortunately based on that notice we probably won’t be trying to figure out why that is not working with DAS.
DAS is not working (with Postman) because it doesn’t use the WordPress email API, wp_mail.
I’m really surprised your host will not let you use any ports to gain access to gmail. I would definitely complain or move to a new service if that is at all possible.
That’s extremely common. GoDaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost, Dreamiest all have this behaviour.
Cheers,
Jason
@jason Nice job on that plugin man, beastin with 60k active installs in like a year!
Is that gmail plugin part of the Postman plugin now or what?
So ridiculous how shared hosting limits ports to the most popular 3rd party email programs, but then again I guess that’s where plugins like yours gain attention!
@rfdprint Jason is correct we do not use the wp_mail option for any of our forms except the Create a new client on the project manager. We are looking into the time it will take to convert these other forms. Until now we have never had anyone tell us the port option was an issue so thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ll give you an update today or tomorrow the latest.

Thank you both! Both DAS and Postman are great plugins, takes care of all my needs. If there is a solution for the DAS email issue it would be even better!
Jason, in my opinion, Postman is the best solution for the SMTP blocked port issue (if not the only solution). It’s also very user friendly, you did a great job. Thank you for going above and beyond, not only monitoring this post but also diagnosing the issue, A+++!
@slickremix
Thank-you! 🙂 That’s right, the main Postman plugin has native support for the Gmail, Mailchimp and SendGrid APIs.
The hosts limit access to external SMTP servers so they can control Spam. If a web host connects to an external SMTP server and starts Spamming, that IP that the host owns becomes blacklisted and loses reputation.
@rfdprint Thanks for being a user 🙂
