• Resolved Some Bloke

    (@some-bloke)

    Hello there,

I recently set up a website using WordPress installed on the server, since first installing I have switched over to a new domain (which I’m pretty sure has all been done correctly)

My issue is that when I go to the dashboard I get the following errors:

    Incoming Links
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/content/88/11344688/html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 2662

    WordPress Blog
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/content/88/11344688/html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 2662

    Plugins
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/content/88/11344688/html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 2662

As far as I can tell so far this isn’t causing me any direct problems, I’d appreciate some insight on what these error messages are and how to fix them though 🙂

    Thanks!

  • Try with “Deactivate” plugin one by one – that is the case most of the times.

    Hey,
I deactivated each plugin one at a time, checked the dashboard, reactivated it, then deactivated the next one and checked the dashboard -I did this for each of the plugins and nothing changed

What would you suggest I try next?
    Thanks for your help 🙂

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I’ve tried that and it doesn’t seem to work

    Surely the code:
    /home/content/88/11344688/html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php

tells what’s wrong? I have no idea what/where this is or how to find it; I’m also not sure what an unexpected $end is either 🙁

It’s the same error for, incoming links, wordpress blog & plugins -same line with same error

You have a corrupt WordPress core file. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I’d literally just finished fixing it when you replied :p

What I did was delete my wp-includes folder (after backing it up)

Then I just transferred over the wp-includes folder from a fresh download of WordPress 🙂

    Thank you for your help

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. 🙂
