Hi @designerj, thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the dashboard sharing feature. I’d be happy to help with this. Please can you share the information below:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
- Which user role are you sharing the modules with? And are the user roles custom user roles or regular WordPress user roles?
- A screenshot or recording of the permissions error the users are seeing.
Anything else you think may be of use is always welcome. If you have any questions in the meantime on the above then please let me know. I will await your response.
@designerj Thanks for sharing the information. Could you please confirm if the same occurs when all plugins except for Site Kit are temporarily disabled on your site?
If possible, could you also share a recording of this experience? You can use a service such as Loom to capture this and share the recording URL here.
Thanks for replying. Is there a private form I can submit to? I don’t really want to share the video publicly if that’s ok.
@designerj Of course, you can share the recording to the private form you shared above for your Site Health information. Let me know once shared and I will take a look. Thanks!
@designerj Thanks for sharing the recording that’s very helpful indeed. When logging in with the user role that doesn’t see the Site Kit option, do you see any console errors?
Could you also try logging in from an Incognito browser and confirm if you encounter the same issue?
Yes I have the same issue incognito and I’m not seeing any console log errors
@designerj Thanks for confirming. Could I ask if the same happens when temporarily deactivating all plugins except for Site Kit? It’s possible that there could be a conflict causing this to happen so it would be good to rule this out.
Could I also check if this happens with all user roles or just specific roles?
Yes this is the first thing I checked when you asked. And you can see in the video that all plugins are disabled. It happens with all roles, apart from administrator. I have also tested with vanilla install of twenty twenty four theme, and have the same issue.
@designerj Thanks for the added insights. It would be interesting to see if you encounter the same on another site. If you go to this URL, a temporary WordPress site will be created for you with Site Kit pre-installed.
Please could you try setting up Site Kit on this site configuring dashboard sharing as you have on your own site. When doing this, do you encounter the same issue with any of the user roles when logging in?
If you don’t encounter the same issue then this could indicate that the issue is at host/server level for your website and you may need to reach out to your hosting provider to perform some further checks. Let me know how your testing goes.
I was able to add it to an editor user and it appears to show Site Kit. I can’t see how this could be a server issue though, I’m not getting any errors that would indicate this would be the case. I don’t remember the exact steps I took when I first connected my Google account to it, so could it be something there?

@designerj If you don’t experience the same with the temporary site then this points to an issue with your current site setup or an issue at server/host level as I mentioned previously. One thing you could try is a Site Kit reset.
Once reset, you will need to set up the plugin once more. After performing a reset and setting the dashboard sharing options once more, do you encounter the same issue?
It looks like the reset got it working again, I can see the menu in the editor role now. Many thanks for your help and patience with this, I really appreciate it.
@designerj That’s great to hear! No problem at all and glad I could help. If you have any other issues please don’t hesitate to reach out and we will be happy to help.
