Data Backup: Local file system > Folder

    Q: Local file system > Folder creation/definition
    Are there any more details on how to configure this? Dropbox app isn’t approved so the only way to [easily] schedule backups is to a local folder on my hosted WP server.
    I tried
    /
    /public_html
    /public_html/WP-Stats-Logs [a new folder with 7-7-7 permissions)

    Nothing works 🙁 Feeling dumb

    Thanks for the post.

    For local backups, please make sure to put the full path to the folder you are trying to write to and that it has write permissions.

    I think it might be permissions. I add the full path (visible via cpanel):

    /home/wheaacxu/logs/wp-stats

    In cpanel File Explorer I right click the folder and select ‘Change Permissions’ and set to 777 (not secure but can change it later).

    Plugin still not happy. It shows:

    { “Permission”: { “owner”: { “name”: “wheaacxu”, “access”: “rwx” }, “group”: { “name”: “sospfowl”, “access”: “rwx” }, “world”: { “access”: “rwx” } } }

    Not sure it helps but it’s a site hosted via Namecheap, I’m using cpanel to access the files but I have no idea who/what the group ‘sospfowl’ might be! I can only set permissions for the folder for rwx for User, Group, World

    I can also use cpanel to create a user with Web Disk access but then I can’t see anywhere in the plugin to define a user.

    It’s still an awesome plugin but it would be good if Dropbox was fixed as a backup location (not working since 2019 as far as I can tell from support forum). Authorisation blocked with:

    Error connecting app:

    This app is unable to link additional users because it has been frozen pending review.

    Thanks for the update.

    The best folder for local backups would be here: ..\wp-content\uploads\wp-data-access\your-folder

    Can you try that?

    Even with that path and new folder with 777 I get “ERROR: Invalid folder“

    For now I’ll try setting up a job outside of WP 🙁
