I’m seeing something similar.
- Select the toggle for Database (and it toggles on)
- Select Backup Now or refresh the page, the toggle switches off
- The backup does NOT complete (not for files nor database)
- It is holding on to the new time I selected for the daily backup
So this is essentially not functioning at all now.
@neilgee: Are you actually getting it to run a backup at all?
@bws-online some sites yes, some sites no – it really is a train wreck and don’t get me started on the UI – even the font choice is a shocker
Hello @bws-online & @neilgee , I followed your steps but couldn’t reproduce the issue. Can you help me recreate the problem so that I can report this to the BWU developer?
Can you please disable all plugins and check if the issue persists or not?

@kiron1 Same thing happens with all plugins deactivated.
I just checked the staging site where I tested things out yesterday — it does NOT have the problem. (Weird.)
I tried deactivating and deleting. Purged all caches. Added it back. Did onboarding settings. Let it complete initial backup — and it completed it successfully. Setting is sticking now on page refresh, Backup Now runs the backup. So please consider my issue resolved and this thread can focus on @neilgee’s issue. Thanks.

FYI: Same problem I described from almost a month ago on this thread is happening again.
I was working with 6 sites tonight that all use this plugin — most with a similar combination of theme and other plugin files. I just updated to version 5.0 on all 6 of the sites.
Out of those 6 sites, only 2 of them actually had success creating backups when I selected “Backup Now” after updating to 5.0, though. The others are all showing the odd behavior from before — I set the Files and Database toggle switches to on (indicating weekly backup for Files, daily for Database). I have Backup will be stored on local (on hosting) and Dropbox — all sites authenticated via Dropbox.
Once the toggle is on for Database, it shows the date for the next backup. I choose to View Settings and Save Settings in the Database section, just in case. But the Database toggle won’t stay on. If I refresh the page, it switches off again. If I choose Backup Now, it switches off again (and no backup happens).
As before, I tried deactivating and deleting the plugin. Purged all caches. Added it back. Did onboarding settings. Let it complete initial backup — and it completed it successfully. The Database toggle is now staying on with page refresh, Backup Now runs the backup.
I don’t believe I should have to keep jumping through those hoops for it to keep working. Please advise.

Thanks @neilgee. I’d already updated to 5.0.7 tonight before I posted — that’s what wasn’t working. Hopefully the update sticks now (after I deactivated/deleted/reinstalling).

@bws-online We found a few edge cases that are still happening, and we’re working on fixing them as well.
Actually this is still happening to some sites of mine running version 5.0.7 – so it is not fixed – I am having to downgrade to version 4.1.7
