Database connection fail.

    Hi.

    When I test the installer I’m getting the following error. Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2)

    I have contacted my hosting company and they have confirmed I have created the database correctly and that the port is correct. I’m not at all technical and really don’t know what to do.

    If I change localhost to remotehost I get the following error. Unknown MySQL server host ‘remotehost’

    Any help will be greatly apreciated.
