Database differences between Single and Multisite installation

    Hi,
    I wanted to know if any new entries/tables/etc are created automatically while upgrading a single WP installation to Multisite?

    Reason: i just upgraded my website to multisite, only to realize later on that i am running on shared server and hence cant use subdomains! yeah dumb me for not remembering it then!
    Now all my posts have gone corrupt post upgrade and has some unicodes(i guess) like ‘Â’ and ‘‒ in all of them! 🙁

    i wish to rollback my DB(backup taken prior upgrade) asap. but am skeptical in updating the MS DB with a Non-MS one.

    ok so i found this:

    a derivation of it would mean that the following are the new tables added:
    wp_blogs
    wp_blog_versions
    wp_registration_log
    wp_signups
    wp_site
    wp_sitemeta

    so… there are ‘NO’ other changes/new-entries in DB???

    like i said, i dont want to rollback my multisite installation. just update the DB to previous single-site one.

    could somebody pls help confirm?

    Those directions are correct.

    The only addition to those tables are if you added a subsite (then you’d have wp_2_posts etc etc)

    You can turn off multisite by restoring the database to a previous version, but you should also clean up the .htaccess file. You’ll get database errors otherwise.

    thanks ladies.
    strangely, reverting back htaccess and wp-config itself solved my problem of data corruption. and only other thing added extra into wp-config were these for security:

    and yeah, thanks Mika for your books on WPMS. downloaded from halfelf.org and going thru it now…

    SECRET is the key word 😉 Don’t share ’em. And yes, you should always have them. They make logging in more secure.
