i m new to the wordpress host blogging and i downloaded 2.8.6 version of wordpress and uploaded it to the server and i dont know how to set the database as it is showing database error connection.

You need to edit the wp-config.php file & enter DB details there.

Or simply redirect to

http://your-domain/blog/wp-admin (If Blog Directory is there)

Otherwise to

http://your-domain/wp-admin

WordPress will guide you to setup the database configurattion

NOTE: Change your WordPress Folder permissions to 777

Excuse me?? That doesn’t sound like a smart idea to me to have the whole WP directory world writable.
