I’m having a problem with my backend after upgrading to WordPress 2.8. I have done everything on the “Login_Trouble” page on the codex.ww.wp.xz.cn site. Here’s what I am experiencing.

After entering my login info to enter the backend of the site, I get an “Error 500-Internal server error”. This happened after upgrading to 2.8. I also tried to upgrade to PHP5 by adding the .htaccess file with the “AddType x-mapp-php5 .php” command. I have taken all plugins off the site (deleted) and problem persists. Checked site-url and home fields in MySQL… they are correct.

I am using: WordPress 2.8, PHP4, MySQL5.0, Mac OSX (Leopard), Firefox. Here is the php test I did. http://publishing.morgan-james.com/phpinfotest.php

When I try to access the backend, it says:

Error 500 – Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

    Is that what you mean?

    no. the server’s error log.

while youre trying to figure out what those are — rename your wp-content/plugins directory.

    Hi, Whooami,

Thanks for your help. I figured out what the problem was. Someone else who had ftp access had reloaded the plugins without me knowing, and it was a plugin that was the source of the problem. Thanks again!
