Database update hangs (fails)

    When I login to my website through blog/wp-login.php I get a screen that says “Database Update Required

    WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

    The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.:

    WHen I click the “update wordpress database” the text goes away and I see a blank box and nothing ever happens. I have left it open for hours and there is no change. I have tried various browsers and computers.

    Please advise. Thank you.
