I’m sure this is an ignorant question. but I suddenly can’t access my Admin without getting the message that says “Database Update Required – WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.”

What I don’t get is that this site’s current version of wordpress is newer than some of my older sites, and I’m not getting this message on those older sites.

After backing up my original Database, I ran the update but it just cleared EVERYTHING in my database – That’s not an update, that’s a new installation. and I can’t restore the original database without getting the Update message again.

    Why the forced update?
Is there a way to update without losing all of my posts/pages/products/widgets/etc?

Precisely. That is why it needs to update the database.

Try disabling plugins by renaming the plugin folder to rule out a plugin issue.

I ended up just rebuilding the site from scratch. Since I was only 2.5 hours into the build. I’m bugged since my backup didn’t actually work like it was supposed to.

oh well, you live you learn…
