Date and Last modified question

    Hi

    Defult sort setting : The Last modified
    Core: Create timestamp folders yy/mm/dd

    This setting is working correct if I wanna se the last uploaded image first in the library list, nomatter the true date. But The Last modified column and date column are always showing the same values.

    The Last modified column amd the Date column

    – Uploading date and time is correct
    – Changing titles (edit) does not change the timestamp or order
    – Edit image crop or rotate does not change the timestamp or order

    Summary 1: What is the diffrence between Date and Last modified?

    Example

    The dropdown selector list filter shows (February 2004) -correct- for the image and In the Edit attachment sidebar section I got 2 rows

    – Uploaded on (Feb 28, 2004 @ 16:59)
    – Last modified (Nov 12, 2013 @ 8:24)

    This is correct and expected and wanted.. But which one is Date and which one is Last modified? (for the library table)

    Any links or logic for the behaviour for this?
    How is Media Library Assitant expected to handle those 2 dates?

    WordPress stores “post_date” and “post_modified” (and GMT equivalents) in the “posts” database table. Media Library Assistant reads these values and displays them in the Media/assistant submenu table and makes them available for use in the [mla_gallery] shortcode. MLA does not alter or update the date values in any way.

    For posts and pages, the WordPress “post_date” is the published date. For attachments, it appears to be the date uploaded to the Media Library.

    For posts and pages, the WordPress “post_modified” is updated when fields such as Title are changed. This happens in /wp-includes/post.php, function wp_insert_attachment(). For attachments, a separate function, wp_insert_attachment() is called. This function does not update the “post_modified” value.

    For attachments, “post_modified” is changed when, for example, it is moved to or restored from the trash (if that option is turned on).

    In short, “post_modified” is handled by WordPress and MLA does not change it. I agree it’s not very useful, but this is a WordPress issue.

    I’m going to mark this topic “not a support question” since MLA is not directly involved.
