Another question – is the date field just a string in the database or is it an actual datetime object. I’m trying to figure out if I can use PHP’s built in formatting to format my date and if I can sort by date.

Currently it’s just a string, if I don’t remember completely wrong. Best would have been if it was a timestamp of course.

In the simple fields version I released yesterday you can use “Extended Return Values” to return the date as both string and timestamp.
