If I have a date field formatted as m/d/y, do users have to put in the exact date when searching? For instance, if they just wanted to pull up all of the records with a year of 1977, how do they do that? I tried just putting in the year but get a no records found message.

Do I need the Combo Multisearch add-on for this to work?

    I have simillar question.
If i have 3 dropdown field wtih valus day (1-31) , month (january – december) and year (1995-2018), how to setup search for example november 2007 and to show all entries from november 2007?

The search function isn’t capable of understanding partial dates, so it’s not possible to get search results such as you suggest.

The Combo Multisearch add-on provides a way to get results from a range of dates, but it doesn’t correctly interpret partial dates either.

I have my field type Date. My concern, is there a way to show pop up calendar during sign up? Thanks

Yes, it’s possible, you’ll need the Datepicker add-on for that.

Sorry, but I’m new using Participants Database. How can I integrate that? Thanks

It is an extension to Participants Database that is offered on my site. When you install it, it adds new capabilities to Participants Database, in this case a customizable datepicker.

So if I wanted to do the kind of date searching I described, do you think it would be better to split the date up into separate fields?

The add-on is capable of doing date range searches, but it does this by showing two date inputs. The idea of being able to search for a month or a year as a single input is a very good one, and I have it on the list of improvements, but that is not currently implemented in the add-on.

Ok. Thanks for the explanations =)

    Hey Roland,

I was playing with different ideas for making this date searching work the way I need it to. You mentioned that the Combo/Multisearch add-on might be the answer.

So can I set it up so that I can search a range of dates? i.e. if I want an article from 1975, I could configure it to search between 1/1/1975 and 12/31/1975?

    Thanks,
    Joanne

Yes, it can work with a range of dates, it will provide two fields to define the range. You can even add a datepicker if you want.

I am working on a solution for a more intuitive textual date search, but that’s down the road a bit.
