I’m hosted by SiteGround and I’d like to host my images on their CDN (most of my readers are in East Asia). But when I deactivate Photon, I find all my images have been hardcoded to a variety of WordPress servers such as

    i1.wp.com/www.koreandrama.today and
    i0.wp.com/www.koreandrama.today

I’ve spent the morning looking around this forum and other sites for solutions and haven’t come across any recommendations, except that I’m not the only person with the problem. I’m not HTML savvy and I’m not sure how to access the DB to do a search and replace–and my understanding is that the old images would still be on WP for eternity. I hope you can help.

    The site’s at http://www.koreandrama.today.

    Thanks!

Once you deactivate Photon, your post images will stop using the WordPress.com subdomains and go back to their original state. You don’t need to make any changes in your database, as Photon doesn’t make any changes to the image paths there; your posts are always stored in the db with their original path.

However, it’s worth noting that another Jetpack module makes use of Photon to cache and resize images on the fly. If you use the Tiled Galleries module, all Tiled Galleries will use Photon.

To completely remove Photon, you’ll consequently need to deactivate the Tiled Galleries module as well.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you!

A question: When I deactivate the Tiled Galleries module, will all those photos need to be re-entered onto the pages where I had galleries? I make a lot of use of tiled galleries.

    Thanks for your help.

You won’t need to make any changes. Once you deactivate the module, your galleries will switch back to the default gallery style that comes with WordPress.
