Dedicated submit form differs from the shortcode version

I dedicated a page for the events submit form. That works nicely, although I would like to see more edit options for that page.
It’s also possible to use the shortcode [event_form] on another page or post to show the submit form. This form however does not have the possibility to show previous events. Meaning you cannot copy duplicate a previous event. Is there a workaround for this?
