hi. i haven´t installed it yet, but i think, there will be a <div> or <span> around the area, where the userphoto will apear. so why not hack the stylesheet of the plugin and define a default background for the <div>/<span>? would be the easiest sollution.
The plugin instructs how to provide a default. “The output of these template tags may be modified by passing four parameters: $before, $after, $attributes, and $default_src, as in: userphoto_the_author_photo($before, $after, $attributes, $default_src).”

haha. more obvious than i expected. Thanks westonruter!
The instructions doesn’t seem that clear to me.. what files need to be edited to install this plugin??
