    I got this email…

“We’ve just locked out the host 72.52……. from https://www.mysite.com due to more than 5 404 requests for the file /wp-content/plugins/defender-security/languages/wpdef-default.pot. They have been locked out for 3000 seconds.
You can view the full lockout logs here .”

(I obviously removed my ip and domain).

MY personal IP is not blocked… but somehow the email says my HOST is blocked? This is my dedicated server – why on earth would it do this?

No one has hacked our server…. (we have higher firewalls in place)…

Is this perhaps an update that the server attempted that defender thinks is a hack attempt and isn’t liking?

Yes, I can get into my site. But obviously I need to make sure that the public isn’t blocked.

  • Hi @dimeco

I hope you are doing good today.

I pinged our Defender team to review your query. We will post an update here as soon as more information is available.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hi @dimeco

The log points that there is a missing file wpdef-default.pot. Could you manually overwrite Defender files via FTP? This will not remove any of your settings and it should confirm all files will be there. While upload, please do not visit the WP dashboard.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

Yes I could – however where do I find this file to upload? (I did it through the wp admin… I can download and unzip and manually upload if that’s suggested).

    Hello @dimeco ,

I am very sorry for the delay on our end. Re-installing whole plugin should do the work.
In WP 5.6 you can re-install plugin from the Plugins -> Add new.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hello @dimeco ,

We haven’t heard from you for over a week now, so it looks like re-installing plugin helped with fixing the issue.

Please feel free to re-open this ticket if needed.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
