Hi @assad1999
I hope you are doing well.
Salt rotation is part of one of security features: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/defender/#recommendation-update-old-security-keys
Ideally the plugin developers would implement custom keys that are not relying in the WordPress default ones.
If you wish to prevent Defender from resetting them, you can disable that security feature, but could you please let us know which SMTP plugin you are using? I know some are already having what I described before.
Best Regards
Patrick Freitas
I am using Fluent SMTP.
Just a quick question:
Do we need only to uncheck this box? What happen after 60 days? Will they again automatically regenate the salts? I have attached the screenshot below.

Hi @assad1999
Thank you, I am afraid I couldn’t find anything on Fluent SMTP docs about custom security keys.
The shared image is returning 404, but by unchecking “Automatically regenerate security keys” it will avoid the issue, as the 60 days it is the reminder so if you don’t want Defender reminding you after 60 days you can set to 1y.

Waiting for your response,
Thanks
Hi @assad1999,
Yes, that’s right. Defender will only remind you to regenerate the keys as long as you have the option to automatically regenerate security keys disabled, as in the shared screenshot.
Please find more about the same in our documentation here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/defender/#recommendation-update-old-security-keys
Let us know if you need any further clarification. We are here to help.
