Defining Menu Items with CSS

I recently installed an SMTheme called photopress. I have been updating the CSS for the site to meet my needs slowly.(I’m very new to CSS)

So far I’ve been accomplishing what I want, but one thing I can’t seem to figure out is the Nav Menu.

Currently the menu shows any categories in WP that have posts added to them. Empty categories are not shown.

If I create a menu using the dashboard it creates it’s own menu with no styling between the header image and the search field.

I would like the menu to show the different pages I create on the site.

I’ve played with the CSS script in the style.css index.css and category.php but I can’t quite figure out the coding.

Any suggestions?
