Hi @commontater,
Thanks for reaching out.
When you first install the Business Directory plugin, you will see an option to install the demo data (sample Business listings). Adding these sample listings to your site makes it easier to see how they work. Note that each listing on your Directory page is automatically connected to a single Business listing.
Installing these demo Business listings may also help you to create a layout for your Directory and configure Google Maps.

Once you are finished with the sample Business listings, you can simply delete them from your site’s dashboard under Businesses.
Thanks for using Chamber Dashboard!
Hi @lisaksocial –
Good to know. So far, Chamber Dashboard looks like an awesome solution. 🙂
I’ve had bad luck with demo data in the past (the amount of data was overwhelming and a massive undertaking to delete) – so I moved on with the installation without installing the demo data.
q1: Is there a way to go back and do the install without having to start from scratch?
q2: How much data is in the demo data (hundreds of business, people, media, and other records)?
q3: By the way, what’s the difference between a People record and a WP user?
Your help is appreciated!
Hi @commontater
As a general rule, it’s a good idea to test out any install, especially one that includes demo data, on a fresh install of WordPress or a staging site. This way you can see exactly what you are dealing with before adding it to your production site.
Regarding the Chamber Dashboard Business Directory specifically, the demo data option includes 3 sample Business listings. At this point, you have a couple options.
1) Setup a fresh install of WordPress & reinstall the Business Directory and its demo data.
2) Upload the sample Business listings from our example CSV file, located in the documentation: https://chamberdashboard.com/chamber-dashboard-support/ – click on Plugin Features >> Business Directory >> Add / Import Listings >> Import via CSV
3) Install the free Member Manager plugin and setup the membership form. Then use the membership form to create some test listings. https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/chamber-dashboard-member-manager/

The WordPress user record lets the user login to the site.
Chamber Dashboard People records are created by the CRM plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/chamber-dashboard-crm/
People records are used to:
When your users are connected to their Business listing, you can then create members-only content that can be restricted by membership level. https://chamberdashboard.com/docs/plugin-features/members-only-content/
NOTE: If desired, People records may also be created solely for tracking purposes, without being connected to a user or a Business listing. However, these contacts will not be able to login to your site.
Thanks for using Chamber Dashboard!
