    Hey everyone,

I’m in a bit of a bind here; – the “person” who developed and maintained my website, and had all control & access to everything, decided to either delete all the accounts or change the passwords without sharing with me after we had a disagreement around some of the functionality. Unfortunately I had already paid her for her work, and since she is a very difficult person to deal with has blocked me on everything, so I have no way of reaching her.

Is there a way that I can have whatever accounts there are reset so that I can gain access to this nightmare of a website again?

Thanks in advance for your help
    Ray

  • Sorry to see that you have lost access to the site despite paying the developer. It seems very unprofessional on their part.

It is possible to recover the site access, if you still have access to the hosting control panel. You will need to reset the admin password via PHPMyAdmin ( database ) and regain access to the site.

Hello @raybarry, I’m sorry to hear about your situation. This is a difficult position to be in.

Do you know which hosting company your website is with? That would be the best place to start. They are usually very helpful in these situations once they confirm you are the rightful owner of the website.

To get you back into your website, you will need access to your hosting account. This is where your website files are stored. If you don’t have the hosting login, contact your hosting company directly. They can verify you are the website owner and help reset those credentials.

Once you can access your hosting, you can reset your WordPress admin password through File Manager or phpMyAdmin. If your developer changed the admin email too, you can also change it directly in the website’s database. This will let you use the “Lost Password” link again.
