Deleted items
-
while moving images and organizing my media a ton of items were deleted. And I do mean a ton which will effect numerous pages. I read on another forum post that this was supposedly fixed. I can attest to the fact that is indeed NOT the case. This happened on my personal website. We utilize filebird on my work website as well and now I am greatly worried that this will occur there as well.

Hi @jcotton75 ,
Thanks for using FileBird and sorry about that issue, please note that this issue is rarely encountered and in fact most of the cases we’ve seen are usually caused by other plugins or by plugins that might conflict with FileBird because FileBird itself does not have any permission to delete files by self trigger.
So, could you please contact and schedule a Teamcheck with our team to check this for you?
Kind regards,
-Bruce-I faced the somewhat same thing today. I just got the Filebird plugin as part of the Avada theme update. Thought I would give it a go, and started organising the product images in one folder, logos in another and so on. All of it happening in what you could consider “AJAX” in behaviour.
At the end, I had like 100 images left from the old demo import, and I marked them for deletion. after a few seconds, they were still there, but a few products and all my logos had been deleted.
I reckon that during the dynamic file organising, the window hadn’t updated the index for the remaining items correctly, and used an old index array of values to be sent for deletion causing me a little bit of trouble now having to recreate and upload all logos and a 100 product images again. damn a bummer there.
Hi @yummp ,
Thanks for using FileBird and I am sorry to hear about this issue, please note that the issue that @ jcotton75 had later been understood, you can read about it here:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/glitches-and-poor-support/
So, in a short note, FileBird does not have the ability to automatically delete files by itself, it must have either been out of unforeseen mistake ( in your case, maybe you clicked to delete multiple times in the Ajax mode) or perhaps something similar to the case of @ jcotton75 or maybe your files got missing due to errors from other sources like themes or plugins.
Therefore, I would recommend you get in touch with theme support for further investigation since you said you are using FileBird’s version that comes with Avada theme.
Thanks and let us know if you need anymore support here.
Kind regards,
-Bruce-All I see from both posts make perfect sense and I can relate. Luckily for me, this is a website currently in progress, so no major impact, though I thought I would share my experience in case it could shed some light on a potential bug in the code.
I used the bulk select multiple times, to select all of the logos to be put in a folder, and all of the background images etc etc. And the folders on the left hand side also updated with the counters and numbers etc.
Then final bulk select, I marked what was in the bottom and pressed the big blue “delete permanently” button, and nothing happened. Refreshing the page, I realise that the counters in the logo folder and products folder no longer are shown, and the images to be deleted still sits in the bottom of the “uncategorised” folder.
So the experience was as one would expect it to be, until it wasn’t. So from what I could deduce from the experience would be, that the delete method is posting an array of index values for deletion, rather than the ids of the selected media items. And this index hadn’t been properly updated after moving items using bulk select. Or – Possibly an error is introduced as the remaining media items are remapped in the folder after moving some files, causing the respective media ids to be out of sync.
Nevertheless, I hope this can help prevent similar experiences in the future, as that very big blue button can cause big trouble with people like me behind the wheel. 😛
Hi @yummp ,
Thank you for the nice insight 😉
I think the issue also happened to you in a similar fashion to the thread I referenced for you above, where the “Bulk Select” option would have made you mistakenly multi-click or multi-perform action but not some code bugs.
So, I will forward this to my team so that we could maybe have that function work in such a way that after Bulk selecting and performing a specific action, the “Bulk select” action is automatically released such that nothing is selected anymore.
I think it makes sense this way and won’t cause any more of such issues.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
-Bruce-Hi @yummp and @jcotton75 ,
Sorry for that inconvenience, we have released the latest update which fixed the issue.
Please try again.Thank you so much.
