Deleting Automatic 1st page post

Hi there,

I have produced a wordpress site but I don’t want my homepage to be a post page. This page seemed to be automatic so I have put some text on there so it isn’t blank when people visit, but I would like a page with no post and would prefer no tabs as I would like to put an image with title graphic.

I’m quite new to wordpress, is there something I can do? I am using the theme twenty eleven.
