I’ve been using the Newsletter plugin for many years without big problems. But some time ago Gmail subscribers no longer receive the newsletter. No change in configuration, except the plugins update. No welcome message. Nothing gets delivered from General checks test message. Only Gmail subscribers are affected, other subscribers appear to be fine.

    Any ideas?

  • I have the same problem. When ppl signup, they don’t receive a confirmation email. Why is that? Could developers share a step by step fix? Thank you!

Try a test email from the status panel to a gmail account. The plugin uses your provider mail service, it could be banned by gmail, try to ask the provider if they setup correctly the SPF records for your domain and to check if the server is blacklisted.-

I think I resolved the problem by using a third party SMTP server. There are a few around which are free if you don’t go above the limits. Some examples are SparkPost, SendPulse, SendGrid, MailJet. Mailgun and Amazon CES are also free, but they require a credit card number to register. Some of them may not work if your web site hosting provider blocks the ports these providers offer.
