Hi!

I’m fairly new to SEO/ Yoast so maybe my question is easily answered.

The products in my Woocommerce page have their product description in “short description” and the main description is empty. The Yeast SEO plugin doesn’t recognize this and says:
“Text lenght: The text contains 0 words. This is much lower than the recommended minimum of 300 words. Add more tekst.”

Do I need to cut/ paste every description to the main description field to make it SEO friendly or can I just leave it there? Is the Yoast plugin adjustable to scan the short description?

Thanks for reaching out regarding your product description.

Sadly, there is no option in our Yoast SEO plugin to get or read the short product description from WooCommerce products. That’s why the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin reads the default content area and provides you with content analysis in terms of SEO and Readability only for that area.

However, if you use the Yoast WooCommerce SEO add-on plugin, it’ll automatically include the product’s short description in the content analysis (as well as the default content area). And provide you with content analysis specific to WooCommerce products.
