it defaults to the comments.php of the default theme.
this is also a decent starting point to copy and edit, if you want to make your own comments.php.

Thanks, I’ve looked through the default comments, it’s some pretty complicated PHP. How exactly would I go about editing CSS to control the display of my comments?
Are there any plugins or anything that could help with this? I found something called “Sexy Comments” but it required editing the comments.php code in a theme folder, which I don’t currently have.

I finally succeeded in designed my own theme for my blog, but now I’m confused with my comments.
I made php files for static pages, categories…etc, but I didn’t know what to do for comments, so I didn’t add anything.
My comments show up fine, but I’d just like to change the style a bit.
I’m guessing it’s just defaulting to some sort of generic comments.php, but I tried to look this up and just confused myself. (I’m not much of a programmer…)

It doesn’t look great and I’d really like to change how they show up. I definitely know how to do this with CSS but I’m just not sure how to generate a comments.php. Is there a template out there that I can upload and modify?
