That is EXACTLY what I want to do!!! Many, many thanks!! I’ll give it a try and hope I don’t screw it up.
I’m thinking you must be adding this somewhere other than where I tried it. When the photo is displayed, and there are options for filling in blanks on the right-hand side — one is caption — if I put this text before and after my caption text, then that text shows up in the gallery. If this goes in the code somewhere, can you let me know exactly how to do that? I don’t write code so need a bit more instruction.
Hopefully your version of WordPress is current (version 3.6.1). If it is, access the image directly from the media library. This is how it’s configured.
Yes, my version is 3.6.1. I THINK I understand now. Since I want to hyperlink my photo to a page that I create, I must create that page first so I have that page’s address. I was trying to just put in the name, then link using the “link” button from the page — like I do with other hyperlinks (the only way I knew how!!). Hope you get a chuckle out of my “ignorance.” I’ll try again, but this will take me a few days as I don’t have the individual pages created yet.
THANK YOU very much for your very patient help!
Hello again! Tons of thanks for your help! I’ve finally gotten my info and pics organized to work on this and have another question. I’ve created a hyperlink in the caption as you taught me, but….it links to the admin page that I created and not the page I want others to see. Here’s the link process to see what I’m talking about.
http://www.driftlessprairies.org > bio inventory > insect inventory > Coleophoridae
How do I change this so it’s only the public page that is viewed?
As always — sure appreciate your time and help!
Where did you copy the URL from? Were you in the editing page when you copied the link? If so, that’s where the link will lead to. Be sure you first click the “View Page” or “View Post,” depending which you are editing. Once you are viewing the public page, you can safely copy the page link for use in your caption link.
A couple tips: keep the editing and public page open in 2 separate tabs so you can quickly switch back & forth between them. Have a text editing app like NotePad open to temporarily store links in case you accidentally copy other data and clear the link from your clipboard before you paste it into your caption link.
YEA — I did it! Once again… many thanks!!! I wasn’t thinking of the view page option. Sometimes I have to have my thinking re-aligned!!
Glad it worked. You now have most of your workflow figured out.
Yes, I think I do thanks to your help. I just can’t say it often enough — but I am truly and utterly grateful for your being willing to help me and others! THANKS!
