I am running WP 3.5.2 and BuddyPress Registration Options 4.0.1 and having the same issue as dvansoye, above.
Hi you two. I am unable to completely reproduce this on a local install with WP 3.5.2, bbPress 2.3.2 and BP 1.7.2
I did note that with the bbPress part, it did still let the user through once they were logged in with their account in moderation. I think this will be a good one to try and remedy, even though it’s a completely separate componant.
However, the rest of the site like Groups or Activities, it keeps redirecting me back to my test pending account’s profile. It doesn’t allow me to actually see any activity or content within the confines of the BuddyPress install.
I do have “Moderate new members” and “only registered or approved users can view BuddyPress pages” checked, and I did get email notifications.
Not sure if this will clear up any issues you two have, but I’m hoping so. Also have you made sure that wp_mail is working properly elsewhere in the site? Only issue I can think of for the emails not going out properly, other than double checking to make sure you’re looking in the right account, which I hope isn’t the case 🙂
For clarification, after I posted this earlier, bbPress has since branched out into its own plugin, separate from BuddyPress. The BP Registration plugin is/was set up for the integrated version, not the separate one. This will need to be fixed.
