Difference between Feed and a query?

    Hi, i’m currently learning about Feeds as they baffle me.

    What is the difference between:
    Me showing my feed in the sidebar
    and
    Using a loop to show the 5 most recent posts

    They both output the same thing afaik ? Don’t they both just show 5 titles of the 5 most recent posts with their links? What’s the difference and benefits of using one over the other?

    Any help no matter how small will be of the greatest assistance in my Feed education!!
