Hi @doolyo
Matomo on premise is the stand alone edition of Matomo. The wordpress plugin is a plugin which embedded Matomo.
The WordPress plugin include also some updates in the Matomo core functions to match them with the WordPress functions. For example the user management in Matomo is synchronized with the WordPress user management.
They are both free.
If you plan to use Matomo on a WordPress instance, I strongly suggest you to install the plugin version.
If you want to install Matomo on premise, please follow these steps
https://matomo.org/docs/installation/
If you choose to install Matomo via the WordPress plugin, just install the plugin, it will install Matomo too.
Kind regards

Hello.
Thank you for that information.
I have seen that there is a suggestion to use Matomo standalone in case we have more than 50’000 visits per month on the website.
So it seems to be a question of performance for choosing between both mainly, probably that the wordpress version is slower.
But are there other menus and functionalities with the On-Premise version that are not part of the wordpress edition? I wouldn’t like to have to install both versions and compare all menus one by one, I would rather like to see differences in a comparison page, with everything that is missing in the wordpress edition, do you have such an information?
Hi @doolyo
The embedded Matomo in the wordpress plugin is the same one than Matomo on premise.
The differences are listed here:
https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/what-are-the-differences-between-matomo-on-premise-and-matomo-for-wordpress/
Otherwise, you’ll have the same features.

Mat
