    Hi,

I’m checking my WP Security Audit logs, see some 404 errors, etc. but ALL the links in the logs are pointing to a different domain? That is not my site’s domain at all – a different site completely that has nothing to do with my site.

What is that? How is that even possible? Why is some other site displayed in my logs, but with my URLs?

  • Hello @deanysus

Thank you for using our plugin.

I am sorry but I am not understanding what the problem exactly is because at the end you’re saying “Why is some other site displayed in my logs, but with my URLs?”

What do you mean by “other site” “my URLs”?

Can you copy some of the logs here and advise what is your website URL?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @wpwhitesecurity

Sorry about the confusion. I fixed the problem, there was some conflict between the plugin and something else on the site.

However, I do have another question. I used to be able to view 404 errors to see what page(s) the visitor tried to open and what gave the 404. But now, instead of giving me a list/log of those requested pages, I see this message “Click here to log such requests to file.”

Is there some adjustment I need to make again to be able to see which requests caused the 404 error?

    Thanks!

Glad the first issue is solved.

Yes you can fix that. First of all, that is happening because since the last update we separated the logging of 404 errors generated by WordPress users VS those generated by non-WordPress users, i.e. the visitors.

To enable the logging just click on “Click Here to log such requests to file” and you will be redirected to the configuration screen.

Else, simply navigate to the Enable/Disable Alerts > WordPress & Multisite Management > System Activity

From here you can enable / disable the logs for Alert 6007 (logging of 404 Errors for WordPress users) or Alert 6023 (logging of 404 Errors for non-WordPress users).

Please let us know if the above solves your issue. Looking forward to hearing from you.
