I was having trouble with some images being not as clear as I would like so I instead of using .jpg I wanted to upload some .png versions instead. I was not able to upload the .png images onto my site – an error message (I forgot it exactly but can recheck if needed) was showing that it couldn’t complete the image upload. So I went into the advanced setting and checked the “Deferred optimization” box.

So my question is will my images still be optimized automatically, but only after they are uploaded?

I am a newbie and want to make sure that this change won’t mess anything up or if you have a better suggestion.

    Thank you 🙂

That is completely normal with PNG images, but if you are making PNGs out of images that should be JPG, you’re going to be making your pages load quite slow. Do you have a few examples? I’m curious to see what kind of images you’re working with.

And yes, your understanding of deferred optimization is correct.
